Finally, I scraped-together enough time to install (about 8 times) RedHat Linux 6.0! It was not difficult, just time consuming, and it uncovered some very long-standing problems with my system, like a crappy hard-drive cable, and another crappy hard-drive (which I married to the radiator in my kitchen in a scene reminiscent of a Sam Peckinpah film.) They are amazingly well put together. It is one of the mysteries of the universe; once they fail, they are impossible to destroy, but until they die, they are hyper-fragile and prone to spontaneous disintegration.
