The Velveteen rabbit and all the books and toys were put into a sack to be burned.

Then a strange thing happened. A beautiful fairy came to him. she was the nursery magic fairy.

The nursery magic fairy said she took care of all the play things that children have loved. When they become old and worn out and the children don't need them any more, then she comes to take them away and make them real.

The fairy kissed the little rabbit. She told him to run and play in the woods..

He was a real rabbit now living with other real rabbits.
