Out of bed early today. Had to reverse a trend that develops when I have no schedule, I stay up too late and sleep most of the day. I hate wasting days off.
Does anybody know how to make web pages work in AOL's browers? (This question implies that there are actually people reading this.) And the answer, "Download Internet Explorer or Netscape" doesn't count. I know generally most people use one of those browsers, but
unfortunately, most of my friends are stuck with AOL. (No comments about having the wrong friends.)
. . . <== indicates long pause.
Well, after 2 hours searching I've concluded there is no answer (and God deliver me from techno-idealists). After describing how the NOFRAMES tag is supposed to work in regard to preventing frames from duplicating within frames, HTMLHELP.COM says,"However, most browsers do not support this use of NOFRAMES and will always display the content." That helps.
Anyway, so much for hoping I could preserve my formatting for my web friends who have less sophisticated browsers. And that stinks because, regarding what I write, I emphasize appearance over content. So, if this page looks less than spectular, e-mail me, or get Internet Explorer. I know that's kinda snobbish, but I seem to be slipping into pragmatism as I age (envision youth fading like River Pheonix at the end of Stand By Me).
Now I have to get something done. Clean the house. Do long-needed maintenance on my bike. Put this pile of clutter where it goes, so I can find my desk again. And call Number3 for date #2. (He's the music teacher.)
Got into a cleaning frenzy, even took the keyboard apart. Boy, was that
gross! Plus I rearranged the computer a
little, putting it back in its little cabinet under the desk, and rerouting all
the cables. But now I'm starving, so off to get a pizza...
The pizza guy's son is gorgeous. About 24, he's a shy Greek boy with a big smile, and dark eyes. Vulnerable, I guess. We never talk. His father asked why I didn't have the pizza delivered, instead of carrying it home on my bike.
"You got bike? You gonna carry big pizza?"
"Yeah, I got a rack on the bike."
"Why not have delivered?"
I grinned and said, "I got to get out of the house once in a while. Coming here is my whole social life!" The father laughed, and the quiet greek boy grinned disarmingly and put the change in my hand.

...I almost forgot, conveniently :| to mention this embarrassing detail: I chickened-out. I didn't call Number3. It's good for me to be honest here, it's good to keep promises like the one I made to John to call him, and it's necessary for me to not discard any sincere person for anything less than grave reason. John is a little intense and a little insecure (who isn't?), and maybe he even scares me a lot--it seems lately everything scares me a lot. But I want to follow this through. If all I do during three days off from work is design an online journal, and mop the floor, then I won't have much to 'journal' about.
I intended to set up a date on Wednesday, and that reminds me that Thanksgiving is coming in 6 days! And bedtime is now.
