nothing is perfect.  I'm back with HomeSite for a bit now, and at first it feels good, like going back to an old boyfriend.

Five-thousand years ago, before the age of the Global Village, before mankind adopted the arrogant mantle of domination over the planet, most individuals survived as part of an isolated city-state, a community gathered in self-defense against the real dangers of the then undominated wilderness.  Each was self-contained; commerce—if any—between city-states was a rare and exotic event.  'Social' equated with 'survival', and an individual exiled into the wilds faced almost certain demise.

Leaving what's familiar is never easy.  An individual could not deny that truth in the time when humanity was taking its first steps across the earth; the physical demands of the world at that time confirmed and reinforced it.  Since then we have created many repudiations of that truth, and today, one might conclude that change requires no more work than getting on a plane.
